Disturbing final text sent by sisters who disappeared during a walk in the middle of the night

Police have revealed the final text message sent by a pair of sisters before they disappeared without trace.

Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, 32, were last seen in the early hours of January 7, before vanishing.

The pair are two of a set of triplets and were last seen on CCTV near a river in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Eliza and Henrietta had reportedly been seen in the same area at around 2.50PM the day before they went missing, police have revealed as they continue the search.

Officers also revealed that Henrietta had sent a text message from her phone to their landlady at the exact time they were last seen – 2.12AM – indicating that “they would not be returning” to their apartment.

Police confirmed: “The phone was then disconnected from the network and has not been active since.

“The following day, the sisters’ personal belongings were found inside the flat and the landlady reported her concerns to police.”

Henrietta and Eliza were last seen on CCTV footage on Market Street at the Victoria Bridge near the River Dee in Aberdeen, and police confirmed the sisters had “made an earlier visit to the bridge where they were last seen,” and were both wearing rucksacks.

Police added in the appeal: “CCTV shows Eliza and Henrietta spent five minutes at the footpath and the Victoria Bridge but did not engage with anyone else.

“Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the sisters at this earlier time. After visiting the bridge, the sisters are then seen on CCTV making their way through the city center, via the Union Square shopping center, back to their flat in the Charlotte Street area of Aberdeen.

“There is nothing to indicate that Eliza or Henrietta left their flat again until shortly before they were last seen at the River Dee in the early hours.”

The search is currently being focused on the River Dee as “there is nothing to suggest that Eliza or Henrietta left the immediate area,” police added.

The pair are both described as “white and of slim build with long, brown hair,” and are from Hungary. Their third triplet is their sister, Edit Huszti, according to the BBC.

Local superintendent David Howieson said in a press release: “We have carried out a significant trawl of public and private CCTV footage as we try to establish the sisters’ movements.

“Several hours of footage are being examined by a dedicated team of officers.

“Although the sisters didn’t engage with anyone else at this time, the area would have been busy and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen them.

“Extensive inquiries are ongoing and I would again stress there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances or criminality.”

Chief Inspector Darren Bruce added: “Eliza and Henrietta’s family are understandably extremely worried about them and we are working tirelessly to find them.

“We are seriously concerned about them and have significant resources dedicated to the inquiry.”

The Huszti family said that the two sisters had moved from Hungary to Scotland around seven years ago, and their brother Jozsef told the BBC that the pair seemed “fine” in the days before their disappearance, having spoken to their mother the Saturday before.

Their third triplet, Edit, told the outlet that she’d spoken to her sisters on a video call on New Year’s Eve, when they appeared to be happy and cheerful.

The “close-knit” family are bewildered by the pair’s disappearance as it was out of character for them to be out in the streets in the early hours of the morning, as they claimed the pair preferred to stay home than go out.

The family released a statement in Hungarian, telling the public: “We kindly ask everyone for respect. Please do not spread any unfounded rumours. We can only say what’s already been in the news.”

“The family is not in a position to give everyone separate information. Thank you all for being with us in these difficult times.”

The investigation into their disappearance is ongoing.
