Prince Harry detailed how his and Meghan Markle’s kids Archie Harrison, 5, and Lilibet “Lili” Diana, 3, have been “blessed” with their mom’s thick hair.
Prince Harry shared rare details about son Archie Harrison, 5, and Lilibet “Lili” Diana, 3, during a recent appearance at the WellChild Awards in London, revealing that the two are largely taking after his wife Meghan Markle when it comes to their tresses.
“From the moment he arrived in the reception room, he had an infectious energy about him, and there were no airs and graces at all as he chatted animatedly about his own children ahead of the event,” Hello! chief content officer Sophie Vokes-Dudgeon wrote of Harry in the magazine’s latest issue. “Archie and Lili have been blessed with their mother’s thick hair, he told us, self-effacingly, as he marveled that it won’t be long until Lili can sit on hers.”
However, Lili and Archie have inherited Harry’s self-described “ginger gene” as well. As the Duke of Sussex noted on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last year, “I actually really thought in the beginning of my relationship that—should this go the distance and we have kids—there is no way the ginger gene will stand up to my wife’s genes.”
Explaining how red hair runs in his late mom Princess Diana‘s Spencer family, Harry said with a laugh, “But I was wrong!”
And when the family unveiled Lili’s first photo in 2021, both the princess and her older brother were, indeed, pictured with amber hair alongside Harry.
So, how does Harry feel about being dad to two mini-mes.
“Becoming a father of two incredibly kind and funny kids has given me a fresh perspective on life, as well as sharpening my focus in all my work,” Harry shared in a statement last month on the eve of his 40th birthday. “Being a dad is one of life’s greatest joys and has only made me more driven and more committed to making this world a better place.”
He added, “Whatever the age, my mission is to continue showing up and doing good in the world.”
