Bobby Bones is getting on the record and addressing the “worst dancer” accusations.

On Sunday, Aug. 18, Julianne Hough, 36, shared a candid admission about a celebrity winner on Dancing with the Stars she “strongly disagreed” with while answering a viewer question on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

When fellow guest, country singer Mickey Guyton, answered “Bobby Bones,” Hough paused before she replied, “I actually agree with you and I think it’s because of the fan base. It’s all about fan base on that show. He was not the best dancer.”

In a video shared to his Instagram on Aug. 19, Bones reacted to the interview and noted his love for Hough who he’s “met a couple times” on occasion. After giving kudos to the dancer for being “diplomatic,” he called out Guyton for naming him.

“I was the worst dancer. I take pride in that,” he acknowledged. “Now, I tried as hard as anybody in the history of the show, but I can’t dance now, couldn’t dance then.”

“But you know who took down the big evil empire of dance? Well, it’s not evil or an empire, but me and you! We did it together,” Bones continued.

“I’m the greatest champion ever. I didn’t say I was the greatest dancer, but the greatest champion ever. I’m the man of the people. I’m the man that you guys selected,” he continued, adding, “But Mickey Guyton, what? Julianne Hough, you’re cool.”

He continued, “I’m a terrible dancer, I was a terrible dancer but they changed the rules after I left because the fan vote was so good.”

Bones won the mirrorball trophy in 2018 alongside DWTS pro Sharna Burgess. Despite receiving low scores from judges, he cinched the title when America voted him as winner. Milo Manheim placed second with Evanna Lynch in third and Alexis Ren coming in fourth.

Shortly after winning, the radio show host, 44, jokingly told PEOPLE of his plans to hang up his dancing shoes once and addressed the criticism he received from his performances.

“I’m never dancing again,” he said at the time. “I have retired from dancing. The dancing thing was crazy because I went into it not knowing how hard it actually was. Being around the pros and actually seeing them do their thing, they’re professional athletes.”

“The people on the internet that loved that show were brutal to me,” he explained. “If people love dance, you didn’t love me on that show. If people love people going on and trying something new and putting their heart on their sleeve and being uncomfortable, then I think that’s who I was able to connect with. No one who was a ballroom fan was ever going to like me.”
