Rapper Project Pat’s son dies at 21

Patrick Earl Houston Jr., the son of Memphis rapper Project Pat, has tragically passed away at age 21.

Memphis police have reported that Patrick Jr. was fatally shot on January 10 in the Imogene Heights neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee, per TMZ.

Officers responded to the scene at a local park just after 1 PM, where they discovered him deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Details about the shooting remain scarce, with no updates on potential suspects or motives.

The loss has left fans heartbroken, with many flooding his father Project Pat’s Instagram posts with condolences and prayers.

“So sorry for the loss of your son. Sending prayers during this time of great loss,” one user wrote. “My heart goes out to Pat and his family,” another shared on X.

Neither Project Pat nor his brother Juicy J – Patrick Jr.’s uncle and co-founder of Three 6 Mafia – has issued a public statement about the devastating loss.

According to The Mirror, Patrick Jr. was born on May 23, 2002, to Patrick Earl Houston Sr., better known as Project Pat.

The 51-year-old is a major figure in hip-hop, serving as both a solo artist and frequent collaborator with the iconic rap group Three 6 Mafia.

He began his illustrious career after serving prison time in the late ’90s, releasing his solo album Ghetty Green, which was published on his brother’s Hypnotize Minds label.

Pat then became an affiliated member of Three 6 Mafia, who are known for hit tracks like ‘Half On a Sack’ and ‘Stay Fly,’ and gained mainstream attention after lending his voice to the unforgettable hook on ‘Sippin’ on Some Syrup.’

The rapper’s nine studio albums have solidified his status as a Memphis rap legend, with his most recent releases being M.O.B. in 2017 and his collaborative album with Juicy J, which is titled, THEM GOATS.

Patrick Jr.’s tragic death comes just days after the 24th anniversary of one of his father’s most iconic albums, ‘Mista Don’t Play: Everythangs Workin’.

The certified gold project was released in 2001, only a few months before the late 21-year-old was born.

Patrick Jr.’s obituary reveals that he died on January 10, 2025.

A funeral service to honor his memory is scheduled for Saturday, January 25.
