While they used to have a stigma around them, nowadays they are seen as a cool work of art that has no bearing on a person’s character.
Well, that all depends on the design of course.
There are naturally tattoos of hateful marks that people get on purpose, but there are also those unfortunate souls who have accidentally been permanently marked in a way they didn’t intend.
Step up TikTok user Anicole.
The idea was for Anicole and her friend to each get one wing of a butterfly tattooed on the back of their upper arms, creating a complete image when placed together.
Sounds cute, right? Well, let’s just say it did not go as planned.

“When you try to get cute matching tattoos and you get two limp d*cks instead! #wheninnash #ohno #coverup #tattoo,” she captioned a video on TikTok, which has since gone viral.
The video shows Anicole holding her head in despair, visibly upset by the outcome.
Well, people had some thoughts they wanted to share in the comments.
One person questioned: “Is this a prison tattoo?”
A second said: “They put a stencil on first and ask you to look… why would you say ‘looks good’ and let them tattoo you?”
In a follow-up video, Anicole explained what had gone wrong and detailed the steps she took to rectify the situation.
“We don’t blame the artist or the shop, nothing against them,” she said. “But on the flipside to that, I don’t really think there is any way the artist didn’t know what it looked like.”
Recounting her initial reaction, she shared: “The first picture of it I saw was in the video, and I started sobbing. That was me really crying. I cried for probably an hour after I saw the tattoo on my arm.”
Anicole also addressed concerns that the tattoo might have been infected, clarifying that the redness seen in her videos was simply skin irritation from the fresh ink.
Fortunately, the story has a happier ending. A few hours after the mishap, Anicole sought out another tattoo artist to fix the design. The result was a much-improved version that now resembles a butterfly wing.
Reflecting on the experience, she admitted that while the ordeal was upsetting at the time, it has left her with a memorable story.
“I’m happier with it now,” she said. “At least I’ll have a good story that I can laugh about in a few years.”
Let this be a lesson in doing a bit more research before getting inked!
